Chinatown Beautification Day : Prevention, Protection, and Prosperity

Join us for the 2022 Chinatown Beautification Day(CBD) hosted by the Chinatown Youth Initiative‒ a 2-day annual youth conference and clean up event focused on beautifying Chinatown. This year CBD is scheduled for September 17th (conference) and September 18th (cleanup), and it'll be taking place at the New York Chinese School at 62 Mott St, New York, NY 10013.  

The first day will consist of 3 sessions and a total of 6 workshops. The second day will consist of a cleanup of Chinatown, raffles, and more!! Lunch will be provided on both days. This is an amazing opportunity to network and support our local communities, while gaining volunteer hours!

Our Youth Conference is a full-day event for youth participants to explore the social justice issues and experiences that they are interested in or already passionate about. Through a day of workshops, panels, and small group discussions, CBD conference participants explored solutions to these obstacles while educating and empowering their peers.

Our Cleanup Day day gives the volunteers a chance to go out onto the streets of Chinatown armed with brooms, dustpans, and garbage bags. This part of the event not only shows the Chinatown community that we really care, but will also act as a message, telling the people who traverse Chinatown to remember to take care of the community.

Our theme for Chinatown Beautification Day this year is “Prevention, Protection, and Prosperity”:

Prevention: With the rise in AAPI hate crimes, it is pivotal that we learn to prevent further endangerment to our community. How do we preserve our youth? How do we preserve our environment? 

Protection: The need to protect small businesses is extremely crucial especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. How can the youth use their resources to effectively support small businesses? 

Prosperity: To beautify Chinatown! How do we build a stronger community with the youth? How do we highlight the multiple talents in our culture?

Second Day: 5.5 hours
